Purpose of Sharia, tariqat & haqiqa

Shaikh Saad ud Deen Khairabadi (Allah have mercy on him) said,

My dear, do you know what is the purpose of Islamic rulings (Sharia), Spiritual path (tariqat) and Divine reality (haqiqa)?

(Listen) The purpose of them is that an individual becomes truthful in speech, morally upright, relatively harmless, wise, good mannered and a gnostic (arif).

Advice for electoral candidate

A graduate of Darul Uloom Karachi who is a candidate for the upcoming elections visited Sayyidi wa sanadi Mufti Mohammed Taqi Usmani (Allah preserve and protect him) and requested for dua and advice.

Sayyidiwa sanadi made dua for his success and said,

‘Turn to Allah in all matters. Make acquisition of His pleasure your primary goal.

These days a prevalent problem is seeking the pleasure of the public (ardhaal khalq). (That is, seeking public approval by doing things contrary to Sharia). Avoid this totally. ‘

Letter of recommendation

Baba Fareed ud Deen Masud Ganjshakar (Allah have mercy on him) usually avoided writing letters of recommendation. However, a person insisted repeatedly.

So Baba sahib wrote,

‘I refer his mater first to Allah and then to you. If you will grant anything to him, the real Giver is Allah and you will get credit for it. If you do not give him anything, the real preventer is Allah and you are helpless in this matter. ‘

Examinations

Haji Shakeel Ahmed (Allah preserve & protect him) from Mumbai mentioned,

‘Most of us are trying to be successful in an examination in which none can succeed. That is, worshipping Allah as it befit’s Him. This is impossible to do as Allah’s majesty exceeds our limited intellect and whatever worship we do it can never ever befit Him.

And we ignore the main examination we are required to succeed as per Allah’s commands. That is fulfilling the rights of our fellow human beings, especially those near and dear, like parents, spouses, children, etc.

We need to look into this and rectify our mistakes. ‘

3. (Excessive) Remembrance of Allah ‘

Talfiq: Permissible & impermissible

An individual inquired regarding the ruling of Umrah being necessary (wajib) for a taxi driver traveling frequently to the blessed city of Makkah. If in this particular case an exemption was possible (from Hanafi fiqh ruling).

Sayyidi wa sanadi Mufti Taqi Usmani (Allah protect & preserve him) replied,

‘Yes, due to the hardship involved this individual can act on the non-Hanafi ruling and not perform Umrah on his each and every frequent visit.’

Another individual inquired about acting on the non-Hanafi ruling of trimming few hairs instead of cutting or shaving the whole scalp.

Sayyidi wa sanadi replied,

‘No. Follow the Hanafi ruling (shaving completely or cutting one fourth the length of the hairs on the scalp provided they are longer than the space between two interphalangeal joints of a finger). There is no hardship in cutting or shaving the hairs.’
