Hakim al Umma Mawlana Ashraf Ali Thanawi (Allah have mercy on him) said,
‘Torch your desires!
Burn your opinions!
Adopt absolute annihilation. And consign your affairs to Allah completely.
Try your best to please Allah.
Who are you to aspire for perfection?
I swear by Allah. If an individual is aware of his own reality than all claims of aspiring self perfection would collapse and flee from his mind.’

This is very powerful group of words, but it is hard to understand the details.
Kindly explain these powerful words for layman like us

The meaning are as evident.
That is annihilate (wipe out completely) our own desires and expectations in matters that appear to be good and reward-able to us. We have to do as we are commanded by the Shariah.
(Wiping out haram desires is a must and that is not being referred to here.)
Assalaamu ‘alaykum ww

May Allah ta’ala purify us through the barakah of our beloved Mashaikh. Jazaakallaahu khayran for posting
