The Rights of fellow humans!

Shaykh Mufti Ashiq Illahi Bulandshahri mohajir Madani (Allah have mercy on him) said,

‘The issue of the rights of the fellow human beings (huqooq al-‘ibad) is of great enormity.  Commonly people are negligent about them. For them religiosity is limited to salah, (long) shirt and beard.

Shaykh Sufyan Thawri (Allah have mercy on him) used to say,

‘If an individual comes on the day of Judgment with seventy disobediences of Allah it is lighter sin than arriving there with a single obligation pending for a fellow human being.’

This is because Allah is self-sufficient (as-Samad) one can expect forgiveness from Him, whereas humans are needy. Therefore, it is essential to be vigilant about these rights. It is of immense importance that one clears these dues before death. It is a stupid idea to expect forgiveness from fellow humans on that day (of Judgment). They will be in need there in a a very tight situation. They will be looking for minute gains and all will try to claim their pending dues in full.

The situation in distribution of inheritance (merath) is sinful for almost all religious individuals, self-proclaimed pirs, scholars, and  lay public. The wealth (and property) of the deceased person is not distributed as per the Shariah rulings among the inheritors. The share of the widow and orphans is engulfed by others.’

Reasons for not recognizing the pious!

_________

Shaykh Shah Wasiullah (Allah have mercy on him) said,

‘The reasons why it is becoming difficult to recognize the pious are,

1. The prevalent and rampant assumption that pious do not exist (anymore),

2. Lack of yearning and desire (talub, i.e. to seek Allah’s pleasure)

3. Absence of sincerity (in this search particularly and in general also).’

Reading Quran correctly

quran

Shaykh Shah Abrar ul-Haq (Allah have mercy on him) said,

‘Hadhrat Thanawi (Allah have mercy on him) has written that there are four rights of the Holy Quran,

1. Respect,  2. Love, 3. Reading it with correct pronunciation, and 4. Following its rulings

In (khanqah of) Thana Bhawan some very senior scholars of Prophetic traditions (muhadith) had to read ‘Noorani Qai’da’,  the primer for Quranic recitation.

We are concerned about the exterior painting and maintenance of our homes, so they may appear attractive.

Why aren’t we concerned about the attractiveness of our recitation of the blessed Quran?

Remember that finer realities and subtleties  of Tasawwuf are of no use if attention is not paid to the essential teachings of the religion.

Best wird

Shaykh Shah Wasiullah (Allah have mercy on him) instructed the spiritual aspirants,

‘The most benefical and sanctified daily spiritual practice (wird) is the recitation of the Holy Quran.

However, this is based on the condition that this recitation is not mere verbal pronunciation of the holy text. There must be participation of the qalb (heart/mind)

This involvement of the qalb does not imply understanding the meanings of what is being read.  It means that the one who is reciting is attentive and aware that,

– he is reading the speech (kalam) of Allah,
– that this text has been send by Allah for our salvation and
– Allah is attentive and listening to it when it is being recited.’

Complete deen!

‘Arif-billahDr. Abdul Hayy ‘Arifi (Allah have mercy on him) said,

‘These days major (kabair) and outrageous sins have become prevalent in our society. We consider them to be a form of entertainment. These major sins will never be forgiven until we leave them and repent. Television is being watched in each and every home. Listening music, songs, watching explicit programmes and movies are common day activities.’ 1

‘Brothers! The matter of here-after (akhira) is of extreme magnitude.

It is inappropriate to be at ease by being  ignorant of its details.

There will be enquiry about each and every thing, including your financial dealings, social etiquette and moral character.

Remember that until all of these components of deen are correct your salah, fasting, pilgrimage and zakah(all worhip, etc) will be devoid of soul and true meanings.’2

Not Recognizing the Blame-worthy Morals Within

A mureed wrote:
I can not recognize within myself any of the blame worthy moral traits. What should I do?

Sayyidi wa sanadi Mawlana Mohammad Taqi Usmani (Allah preserve him and allow us to benefit from him abundantly. Ameen!) replied;

“Read the section regarding the blame worthy morals in:

1. Tabligh deen (Urdu translation of “al-Arba’een” by Imam Ghazali), and

2. Basair-e-Hakeemul Ummat ra (A textbook of Tasawwuf by Dr. Abdul Hayy Arifi)

Reflect on each of these traits and search for their presence in your daily affairs.

Even after this if you do not see any of them, be thankful to Allah.
And if you feel or doubt their presence within your self then ask me.”

Being pleased with the decree of Allah!

_______________

It is reported that it was the habit of Dadi sahiba that whenever something happened against her desire she used to repeatedly say loudly,

‘I am pleased with the decree of my Lord!’

She would continue to say this again and again for a while.

To the surprised audience she explained that I am trying to make myself listen this so that my mind and heart believes in it firmly.
