Best wird

grfino009rf

Shaykh Shah Wasiullah (Allah have mercy on him) instructed the spiritual aspirants,

‘The most benefical and sanctified daily spiritual practice (wird) is the recitation of the Holy Quran.

However, this is based on the condition that this recitation is not mere verbal pronunciation of the holy text. There must be participation of the qalb (heart/mind)

This involvement of the qalb does not imply understanding the meanings of what is being read.  It means that the one who is reciting is attentive and aware that,

– he is reading the speech (kalam) of Allah,
– that this text has been send by Allah for our salvation and
– Allah is attentive and listening to it when it is being recited.’

Complete deen!

‘Arif-billahDr. Abdul Hayy ‘Arifi (Allah have mercy on him) said,

‘These days major (kabair) and outrageous sins have become prevalent in our society. We consider them to be a form of entertainment. These major sins will never be forgiven until we leave them and repent. Television is being watched in each and every home. Listening music, songs, watching explicit programmes and movies are common day activities.’ 1

‘Brothers! The matter of here-after (akhira) is of extreme magnitude.

It is inappropriate to be at ease by being  ignorant of its details.

There will be enquiry about each and every thing, including your financial dealings, social etiquette and moral character.

Remember that until all of these components of deen are correct your salah, fasting, pilgrimage and zakah(all worhip, etc) will be devoid of soul and true meanings.’2

Beware!

Hakim al-Umma Mawlana Ashraf ‘Ali Thanawi (Allah have mercy on him) said,

‘There are two (major) reasons for a bad ending of life (su-e-khatimah),

First is the love of the worldly (hubb-e-dunya).

Second is to consider probable and possible things (zaniyyat) to be a definite (qatai’) article of belief.

(Explaining the second issue he added) And at the time of death the reality will be revealed. This will show that the probable and possible things he cosidered to be definite were wrong. Then the Satan will make him doubtful of his other beliefs, like tawheed and prophethood, etc. This will make him skeptical (of the basic beliefs of Islam).’

Complete following of Sunna!

Allama Sayyid Suleman Nadwi (Allah have mercy on him) said,

‘The following of Sunna (itaba’ e Sunnat) is not limited to changing the external appearance and attire only.

The complete (kamil) following of Sunna entails that the thoughts, aspirations, emotional feelings and desires all become subservient to the Prophet’s (Allah bless him and grant him peace) taste (zauq).

Not Recognizing the Blame-worthy Morals Within

A mureed wrote:
I can not recognize within myself any of the blame worthy moral traits. What should I do?

Sayyidi wa sanadi Mawlana Mohammad Taqi Usmani (Allah preserve him and allow us to benefit from him abundantly. Ameen!) replied;

“Read the section regarding the blame worthy morals in:

1. Tabligh deen (Urdu translation of “al-Arba’een” by Imam Ghazali), and

2. Basair-e-Hakeemul Ummat ra (A textbook of Tasawwuf by Dr. Abdul Hayy Arifi)

Reflect on each of these traits and search for their presence in your daily affairs.

Even after this if you do not see any of them, be thankful to Allah.
And if you feel or doubt their presence within your self then ask me.”

Mathnawi & Tasawwuf

Allamah Sayyid Suleman Nadwi (Allah have mercy on him) said,

‘Even the Mathnawi of Mawlana Rumi (Allah have mercy on him) is not (a detailed systematic exposition of) Tasawwuf. It is a philosophical discussion of issues of Tasawwuf. It is meant for the treatment of those with distorted thinking. It is not intended for every one. ‘

Words of wisdom

Amir al-Momineen Sayyidina Ali ibn e Abi Taleb (Allah be pleased with him) said,

‘Beware!

1. Absolutely do not keep expectations from anyone except Allah.

2. Do not be afraid of anything except your own sins.

3. Do not be ashamed to learn something you do not know.

4. If you do not know the answer of a question acknowledge your ignorance openly.

Deen is not Difficult at all!

Sayyidi wa sanadi Mawlana Muhammad Taqi Usmani (Allah preserve him and allow us to benefit from him abundantly. Ameen!) said:

“Once I was visiting Shaykh Baba Najam Ahsan, khalifa majaz-e-sohbat of Hakim al-Umma (Allah have mercy on them). He was an extra-ordinary personality. Gifted with khashaf-o-karamat (unveiling of secrets and super natural acts). A young man came for an errand. He was like other youths of his age, having no religious desires & inclination. As he completed his work and was about to leave, Baba sahib addressed him and said;

“Son! people think that following deen in very difficult in this day and age.

They are wrong. It is not difficult at all.

Only thing you have to do is to repent for your mistakes daily at night time. That is it!”

I was amazed!
But these ahl-ul Allah are in a quest to bring people to Allah any how and by whatever means. It is impossible that if one develops this habit of repentance daily that he does not develop a relationship with Allah.”

Silence

____________________________

The Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) said:

من كان يؤمن بالله واليوم الآخر فليقل خيرا أو ليصمت

“Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day let him speak good or remain silent.”

[Bukhari and Muslim]

The Sufiya suggest that this applies to all types of talking. That is, of the tongue (speech) and that of heart & mind (active thinking)!

Salafi advice

The great spiritual master Dhu’n Nun al-Masri (Allah have mercy on him) said:

“The early Muslims (salaf) would counsel each other with three counsels:

First: Whoever rectifies their relationship with Allah, Allah rectifies their relationships with people.

Second: Whoever rectifies their inward, Allah rectifies their outward.

Third: Whoever rectifies their Hereafter, Allah rectifies their worldly life.”

[Sharh al-Hikam al-Ghawthiyya, 111]

The use of nur of good deeds!

Arif-billah Dr. Abdul Hayy ‘Arifi (Allah have mercy on him) said,

It is not sufficient enough a goal to become a zakir (one who does excessive remembrance of Allah) and shagil (one who does spiritual exercises) only.

You acquired the nur by praying pre-dawn prayers (tahajjud) and doing remembrance of Allah. This is very good.

However, dear brother, is there a potential use of this nur?

The (nur of) remembrance of Allah makes the darkness go away, the obscurities fade, the rights and obligations become clear in front of you, the filthy and pure things become evident clearly in their appropriate places.

Now, why do you pick up the filth?

If by mistake you did this then remember Allah, throw it away and wash your hands.

(As a example:) Being a human you got angry. Now why do keep a grudge and intention of revenge? Throw away this filth and repent. The use of remembrance of Allah is to be shown here.

Islahi majalis

—————————————-

Sayyidi wa sanadi Mawlana Mohammad Taqi Usmani (Allah preserve him) has repeatedly told us,

‘It must be remembered that these gatherings are not lectures and preaching sessions. The discussion here is to improve our spiritual condition. The first and foremost addressee is my own self.

Please, be attentive of this fact and have this intention of improving yourself. Otherwise it is a waste of time, energy and resources.’

Objective of attending the majalis

Shaykh Mansur Ali Khan (Allah preserve him) said,

‘Every week we gather here to listen to religious discussion. It is imperative that we have a clear objective regarding these gatherings.

These are not lectures of formal religious education. These are training sessions (tarbiyeti) for the spiritual aspirants (salikeen).

Their objectives are, to

1. Create and nurture love of Allah and His beloved Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) in our hearts.

2. Develop the habit of turning (ruju’) to Allah in all circumstances via supplication (dua).

3. Emulating the Sunna method of doing things in every aspect of life.

4. Becoming cognizant of here-after and accountability for one’s deeds.

It is essential to have these goals in mind. It makes the journey easier by keeping you on the track and retuning to it if you slip.’
